SPECTACLE & 27BONES
WINTER 2016
ABOUT THE ARTIST |
27bones is a small business started by Tatum Brydges, a second generation hand-caster living and creating in Portland, OR.
Tatum grew up watching her mom, a self-taught caster, cast the big life moments for the people in their small hometown; moments like celebrating newlyweds, commemorating new life, or memorializing the life of someone who may soon be passing. As Tatum watched these special moments get frozen in time, she knew that one day she wanted to be a part of the craft that could capture a moment, and save it forever. |
As Tatum honed this craft, she began to take a more creative and artistic approach to her castings. With Portland being home to an array of artists, there are constantly opportunities for collaborations with local painters, jewelry makers, shop owners, and more. This continues to inspire her to cultivate her craft and expand the function of her hand-casts. From a decorative piece of artwork to a candle or plant holder, a bookend to a jewelry stand, her hands have proven that they can do just about anything… even display fashionable eyewear.
Eyewear collection features new releases from Leisure Society, Salt Optics, Dita, and Monoqool. |
