DR. CHAD ANDERSON | optometrist/jump warrior
Dr. Anderson’s interest in eye care started from a young age, as he watched his brother have multiple treatments for amblyopia and strabismus (an eye turn). Watching his family work through and succeed with these visual problems has given him an inside view into the struggles individuals and families face in eye care. Dr. Anderson credits this background with helping him understand and empathize with his patients’ spoken and unspoken concerns. He ensures potentially confusing medical jargon is understood well enough to be remembered and applied after patients leave the office.
Dr. Anderson also devotes part of his clinical time to patients at Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center. There he works as an attending physician overseeing patient care and clinical instruction of optometry interns from Pacific University. Working in a university setting provides opportunities for great dialogue with some of the area’s best researchers and educators. Spectacle greatly benefits from this by always being at the forefront of eye care.
Away from the office, Dr. Anderson and his wife enjoy the challenge of keeping up with their five busy children. This includes simulating NBA games on mini-hoops, yelling “gooooooaaaal” on the soccer field, and having jump wars on the trampoline. He and his wife are novice cyclists and love looking for the best pizza in town. Have a favorite? Send him a tweet with your top spot.
